The Power of Expression
All of us are expressing ourselves on a daily basis.
When we're freely expressing our true feelings, we feel good.
When our freedom to express ourselves is restricted, we feel attacked and oppressed.
Whether that's a facial expression, appearance, or a work of art — it is something intimate to us, and it allows us to fully express our "inner world" and leave a mark on this planet. Self-expression is something natural and timeless for humans, and we should all understand the power of expression, and the deeper meaning behind it.
Self-expression has a powerful role in our lives, it promotes individuality, creativity, growth, it has a real effect on our overall psychology & the way we perceive ourselves, and the world as a whole.
Expression in Psychology
The field of psychology was always a big fan of communication and expression.
Psychology is almost entirely built on the basis of communication, and the idea is that if we explore our inner world and express our real feelings, we can actually overcome certain psychological issues and heal our psyche.
There's been a lot of research in this field, and the reports clearly show that self-expression has numerous psychological benefits. Whether that's talking about our anxieties or just showing our true feelings, it can help us to live a healthy mental life.
If we can learn to freely express our inner selves, we're one step closer to being a perfect version of ourselves.
Ways to Express Yourself
"Expression" is a broad term, and there are obviously many ways that we as human beings can express ourselves. All of these ways of expression are unique, and yet, they all support and empower one another. Some of the ways we express our true self are:
- Verbally
- Through art (writing, drawing, singing etc.)
- Behavior (facial and body expression)
- Appearance (fashion, and the clothes we wear in general)
- Dancing
- Tattoos
- and many more
As you can see, we use all of these activities to express ourselves in the world.
However... it's worth noting that:
With a surge of social media consumption and the obvious decline in live communication, a lot of importance is put on the visual expression, and all of the things that don't require real-time contact. Things like our social media posts, which reflect and express our style through the clothes that we wear, are becoming crucial for expression.
In short, you can now get people to like (or dislike) you, even though they never talked to you in person.
That's why our appearance is so important, especially now that everything revolves around social media. We use fashion to express our inner vibration, sending a bold message to everyone around the world.
Expression Through Appearance
Fashion is so much more than "just clothes", and don't let anyone tell you different.
The clothes that we wear are a direct reflection of our inner selves, and we should respect them as such. That's why we feel good when we wear clothes which carry stories that represent our ideals.
What we wear dictates what we feel.
You probably had to wear hospital clothes at some point in your life, and you can probably recall how they made you feel vulnerable. There's just something to those clothes that exposes you. But when you wear a fitting suit or charming dress, you feel powerful, inspired and happy. These clothes simply uplift you. Of course, we can't always be dressed like this, but we can still choose to wear casual clothes that express our deepest feelings.
There will always be skeptics who claim clothes are superficial, fashion is a waste of time and we should all wear the same things. But isn’t that a complete denial of individuality? As human beings, we’re all individuals and that’s exactly what makes us so special. Without our individuality, we’d be no different than animals.
If you ask us, we believe that you should find a brand that resonates with you deeply.
Dressing up shouldn't feel like a chore, and wearing the apparel of your favorite brand will certainly motivate and inspire you. Wearing clothes that define your style makes you happy, and you radiate with that happiness throughout the day.
Of course, the question still remains:
What defines you as a person, and what clothes can help you to embody that?
Freedom.
In the end, it all comes down to freedom.
We are constantly trying to liberate ourselves — from our own fears and limitations, from societal expectations, and from the depths of our unconscious prisons.
There is a child deep inside all of us that just wants to be set free. It’s a creative spirit that wants to thrive and express itself, and who are we to say no to that? Let go of all fears and show your true inner beauty, for that’s all that matters in this life that we have.
Express yourself.
